0043h 30 September: exhausted, and yet ...

29 September has been a very tiring day, yet very productive.

The sub-contractors had been finally successfully rounded up to get moving on with the work that they had started and ignored for the past two weeks. The elusive glass-wall con brought all his pieces of glass, the ID people grinded away to fit in my bathtub, sinks got plugged on, water filter system got flowing, cleaners rubbed away at my windows, landscaper watered the plants, the main door got locked ...

And the live-in construction workers moved out! No more curries stewing in an open kuali in my rooms!

Thanks to Jennifer the forewoman, who had to'disappear' on me for three days of this crucial week, although she had valid reasons for an emergency leave. PTl she got back in time and got things moving.

And of course, thanks to Fookie, for pushing for this. He too, has 'disappeared' on me, for this weekend, to get himself into a maritial binding ;-)) CONGRATS, Mr and Mrs C!

Spent the entire afternoon and evening at Blessings. Checked on work being done and outstanding matters, welcomed my new LCD TV and other appliances, and finally unloaded a whole carful of stuff and washed out the canine room.

I am bushed. Still, I have to pack away some stuff now, not so much for shifting but for the movers to have easy access later today!

0036h 30 September: for the last time ever

I have just done my last ever come-home-pick-dog-crap-and-mop-routine!

No more dreading about coming home all tired and still having to deal with a must-clean mess.

And no more worries about coming home to find my whole computer system strewn in a broken wreakage on the floor.

In 12-hours time, the girls will have their own room whenever I am out. One with nothing to attack-and-destroy and easily washable.

PTL for Blessings!

18 September: tentative move-in date

The tentative move-in date is set for 28 September 2007, plus one day.

And that is next Friday!

I think I have drained all my happy excitement throughout the past one year ... I am more cringing at this point than anything else.

To begin with, I am wondering if we can really pull it off on that date. There is still the difficult-to-install glass walls for my bathroom and the naked bath, my bathtub, my bathroom taps, water filter, some things not functioning properly (ie the pool pump which had been tripping the entire electric supply, some furniture and some outdoor lights), the front gate electric system, some furniture, and some minor additions ... all to be completed by this weekend, as the professional cleaners are to start work on 25 September.

Some other things could come be completed after the move: landscape, dining table, curtains ...

And then, meanwhile, I have to plan the move, and arrange for Internet, custom-made curtains, Astro transfer, purchase of some electrical appliances ...

16 September: presenting BLESSINGS - the SaffyIreis 2611 Residence

The LORD has always so richly blessed my family and me. HIS blessings for the past two years have all been nothing short of miracles.

And now, I am looking forward to this ever-so-great a blessing of a home with my loved ones.

Ohana means family, and family means nobody gets left behind. Or forgotten.

And through this home, I am also looking forward to being used as a vessel by HIM to bring forth HIS blessings upon others.

Hence, this home shall be called BLESSINGS.

1 September: artistic

1 September: childhood garden

I love plants, especially flowers.

Some of my happiest childhood memories are of our family gardens. Lush with bougainvilleas, orchids, anthuriums, periwinkles, yesterday-today-and-tomorrows, silver leaf flame violets (episcia cupreata), Japanese roses (portulaca grandiflora), ixora, jasmine, hibiscus, frangipani, rambutan, coconut ...

Later in life, the gorgeous allamandas dotting the Malaysian kampung gardens captivated me with their bright, happy, yellow simplicity.

This garden will be landscaped with bougainvillea, allamanda, frangipani and coconut, and a 70s-style metal garden swing.

More will be planted as the home grows.

At present, there is a 'faraway' coconut tree, and a red saga seed tree spilling over from a neighbour.

1 September: splurge

This is my private splurge (of water) - the Dive from the Bandini Modern collection.

1 September: the girls' room

The girls' room theme is pink with Stitch (of Lilo and Stitch fame).

Stitch is my favourite lil' chap, and Elly is a female version of him (I am sure she has got two more arms and some spines sucked in somewhere).

Yeah ..., and most days I feel like I am Lilo, mentally and PHYSICALLY!

OHANA!

1 September: vertical handles

Mummy's and Daddy's sliding room doors feature long vertical openers.

This design makes the doors blend into the wall woodwork and less obvious.
